Monday - 5/16/16
Today we played kahoot for Ch. 10 and 11. Afterwards we worked on Ch. 10 and 11 worksheets (see attached). Here are some other things we discussed in class:
1. Each student gets a 4x6 notecard to use on the final. This must be hand-written, front and back if needed, and MUST be turned in to me by Wednesday. If you show up on finals day and say "you forgot to turn it in" you will NOT be allowed to use it.
2. The review worksheets for Ch. 9-17 will be optional. They will boost your grade 10 pts each if you do them all, but will not hurt your grade if you don't get them done. I must see Ch.9-13 by Wednesday. I would accept Ch. 14 and 17 on the day of the exam.
3. Bathroom passes need to be turned in to me by Wednesday. 1 pass is good for dropping 1 homework assignment 25pts or less. 2 passes is good for dropping a quiz grade (NOT "test" quiz), lab grade, or two homework grades.

Tuesday - 3/15/16
Today we took notes on 12.1 and I passed back the graded quizzes. Remediation will be tomorrow during class for those who want it and I will average the two scores (even if you do worse - so study!). Then we did some practice problems converting from moles to moles using balanced chemical equations - if you missed class today you are going to be behind so ask a friend or see me before class tomorrow!

Monday - 3/14/16
Today we watched this video on stoichiometry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ln4DSfFGak, students filled out the video worksheet below as they watched the video. On the back of the worksheet they drew the diagram that was at the end of the video. After this, students drew this diagram in their notes. Both of these are good ways to do stoichiometric problems and I will go into further detail about how to use them tomorrow.
When the video was done, students went to Haiku, Ch. 12, Molar conversions and completed 10 of the 22 problems on a piece of paper (with work!) and that is due tomorrow if not completed. If they completed that, they began on 12.1 worksheet (attached) due tomorrow.

Monday - 3/7/16
Today is the start of the fourth quarter! I started by introducing the letter (below) to students and parents that there will be daily participation points. This letter is due on Friday. Students earn these for good behavior, being on task, etc. If you have any questions please let me know. I also passed out bathroom passes for the final quarter which if go unused serve as extra credit.
The test averages for Ch. 11 were as follows:
1st hour - 82%
2nd hour - 87%
6th hour - 85%
7th hour - 80%
While these are good averages, there were some consistent mistakes on this test that will be detrimental to students moving forward into the next chapter on stoichiometry where students need to know this stuff. So, what we will be doing for the next couple days, and what today consisted of, will be reviewing concepts. Students went to www.haikulearning.com and followed the instructions for Ch. 12 work. This way they could get some practice and ask me questions. Then, I gave them the assigned homework (below) which is due tomorrow.

Today we spent the hour in the computer lab finishing up our Ch. 9 project which is due tomorrow. Students got a chance to look at the rubric their partner will be using to grade them during their presentation. I've attached it here. The point value is not going to be a direct score in their gradebook, but will be used to assess how well they did according to their partner and then combined with my score for them for a final grade out of 50 test points. This project is worth half of their Ch. 9 test grade.
